Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join their legal team in Sydney, Australia. This is a newly created role focused on regulatory and compliance matters.
Reporting to the Head of Legal - Regulatory, you will play a key role in uplifting existing processes and systems, working alongside risk, compliance, and business transformation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high-quality legal advice on regulatory matters, and consumer law issues
- Supporting the Regulatory and Corporate Affairs team with regulatory advocacy, compliance, enforcement, and remediation
- Assisting with managing regulatory investigations and enforcement matters
- Providinglegal advice regarding obligations to and engagement with law enforcement authorities
- Briefing and managing external lawyers as required
- Training and educating the business units on relevant laws and regulations
- Supporting the organisation’s Group Compliance Program.
- Ideally between 5 – 8 years PQE
- Previous experience in enforcement matters
- Knowledge of Competition and Consumer Act, Privacy Act and Telecommunications Act, (desirable)
- Ability to work in fast-moving environments with diverse stakeholders
- Superior drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent project management capabilities
- Proven ability to provide commercially focused legal advice
- Self-motivated with ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
