This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a small team of talented learning designers and shape the development of high-quality digital and blended learning programs that reflect best-practice learning design and human-centred principles.

About the Role:
As the Learning Design Lead, you will oversee the design and delivery of engaging, learner-centred content while managing a team of two learning designers. You’ll ensure all learning products align with evidence-based instructional design, accessibility standards, and the needs of diverse learners.

The Learning Designer will also play a key role in embedding innovation, continuous improvement, and measurable outcomes into the learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver learning solutions: Lead the development of blended and digital learning programs (eLearning, assessments, facilitation guides, and multimedia), ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and compliance standards.
  • Champion human-centred learning: Collaborate with UX teams and stakeholders to integrate human-centred design methodologies. Conduct learner research and embed user feedback into iterative design processes.
  • Evaluate and improve learning impact: Measure and assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives using data and learner insights. Apply evaluation frameworks to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage people and projects: Oversee project time-lines, resource allocation, and delivery milestones using tools like Jira or MS Project. Support the performance, development, and work-flow of the Learning Design team.
  • Drive innovation and uphold standards: Maintain a consistent learning design framework and promote innovative design approaches, such as microlearning, adaptive learning, and AI-enabled content.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders: Partner with subject matter experts, internal teams, and external vendors to co-design learning solutions that are relevant, accessible, and aligned with organisational strategy.
The successful candidate:
You will bring a learner-first mindset, a collaborative working style, and a deep understanding of how to translate complex information into engaging learning experiences. 
  • Strong experience in learning design, instructional design, or a related field
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor others within a creative or learning-focused environment
  • Deep knowledge of human-centred design principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret learner data and feedback
  • High-level communication skills – able to simplify complex content for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in learning design tools (e.g. Articulate 360, H5P, video and multimedia tools)
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, ideally Moodle
  • Experience managing projects and competing priorities using structured tools and methodologies
  • Commitment to inclusive design, accessibility, and continuous improvement
  • Confidence engaging stakeholders and building cross-functional relationships
  • Knowledge of the VET sector, including RTO compliance and competency-based training is desirable
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign or similar content creation/design tools
