National Transport Manager

•      Direct and lead the national third party transport strategy and function across 8 locations (mix of manufacturing and distribution sites)

•      Report directly to the National Operations Director, focus on optimisation

•      Third Party Transport management experience across multiple locations with a good understanding of manufacturing and fleet optimisation required

The business is a $100m manufacturing subsidiary of a global powerhouse employing 10,000 internationally. The client boasts advanced manufacturing capabilities and is a leader in its field operating 8 sites and delivering 30,000 + SKUS to building & construction, energy & infrastructure as well as leading trade suppliers across Australia. The business is looking for a dynamic National Transport Manager who can take their third party fleet function to the next level.

Description 

Reporting directly to an impressive National Operations Director you will hold responsibility for all facets of transport operations for Australia. You will lead and manage the deployment and delivery of all product in a safe, customer-centric and cost-effective manner. Focused on drivers and the 3PL carrier fleet servicing the business you will:

• Develop and implement strategic transport plans for manufacturing & distribution sites nationally to optimise distribution operations, providing on time service quality, transport efficiency, cost-effectiveness, vehicle utilisation, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulatory and legislated EHS requirements with a focus on accurate, safe and compliant delivery
• Develop and manage freight cost structure to flex with volume whilst maintaining optimal balance of safety, customer service and pricing
• Develop and implement a CI strategy to improve cost, transport efficiencies and Customer experience via NPS and similar Customer feedback systems
• Act as subject matter expert for the function in terms of fatigue management, safe working, NHVR Compliance, safe loading etc
• Provide key stakeholder engagement of transport contractor/supplier agreement and Oversee the strategic review and utilisation of the TMS including systems integration, optimisation, and training programs
• Participate in internal & external QHSE audits, to ensure ongoing compliance above standard

Profile
 
You are a proven 3PL/ Regional/ National Transport/ Carrier Manager with your understanding spanning both third party operations, manufacturing & distribution. Ideally you will have delivered on a demanding timescale to construction/ infrastructure or engineering clients. Your background in third party transport leadership and NHVR will be complemented by an understanding of network optimisation and ideally a Tertiary qualification.
