Job description

•      Relocation opportunity to Nowra, mechanical maintenance responsibility for a huge 24/7 site

•      Report to the Site Engineering Head, creating the mechanical strategy and driving change

•      Create, align and implement a full TPM schedule on site whilst handling all reactive maintenance

Client Details

The business, Manildra Group is a major (family owned) food processing business that has enjoyed immense growth in recent years. Focusing on starch and gluten production with advanced waste recovery facilities, the business recently finished a significant capital works program at its Bomaderry site. With 450 staff on site and operating 24/7; the plant is a leading operation in its field globally. As a result of an internal move the business has an opportunity for its next Mechanical Maintenance Manager to shape the department.

Description 

Reporting to the Site Engineering Head with full control of mechanical maintenance on site; you will manage all preventative and reactive maintenance activities through your team of 60 + staff. Working closely with the Site Manager, Production Leads, process, electrical and mechanical engineers and Engineering  Managers you will be challenged to maintain site uptime, leading change to ensure tonnage capacity is met. Specifically you will:

- oversee the Maintenance Department, its staff and resources, and own reporting on engineering requirements, new equipment installations, plant maintenance and facilities, and systems and procedures
- Manage the site Engineers and Fitters staff through your Maintenance Administrator, Mechanical Maintenance Senior Supervisor, Spare Parts Coordinator, and provide day-to-day support to the Mechanical Engineer and Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Develop the department’s plans, strategic vision, budgets, and work programs, allocating sufficient resources to ensure efficient operations and all aspects of people management
- Be main contact for the Mechanical Maintenance Department in liaising with unions and employees on any industrial disputes
- Develop, implement, monitor and review policies, systems and procedures and perform all staff appraisals

Profile

You are a proven Engineering or Maintenance Manager with a wealth of experience in reactive and preventative work. You will be able to evidence having managed a large multi shift maintenance team through change involving TPM and project programs. You will ideally be Degree qualified and will have gained your expertise within Food, industrial processing, FMCG or a similar large scale volume business with developed skills as a manager, change agent and delegator of a complex maintenance workload.
