Integral to this, is the appointment of a competent and experienced ER Manager. 


Description 

The ER Manager's primary focus is partnering with employees and leaders on case management matters such as performance management, disciplinary action, running workplace investigations, Fair Work matters up until and including conciliation, and other policy and legislative support/interpretation to P&C Business Partners.

Strong leadership qualities and employee relations expertise is paramount to really build knowledge and capability into the team.

The ideal candidate can also look at continuous improvement of ways of working to gain efficiency and promote self service, review and develop tools that are scalable etc.

The ER Manager will report into the Senior Executive Leader and will contribute to broader thought leadership in all ER/IR strategy and activities, whilst partnering with senior HR Business Partners.

  • Lead a team of HR/ER Advisers that champion organisational purpose, strategy and behaviours.
  • Design and manage robust employee relations approaches and processes in the areas of case management, having regard to key employment obligations i.e. Fair Works Act and duties pertaining to Respect at Work.
  • Monitor employee relations advice and approached across the service delivery model ensuring alignment to policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of our people in the workforce by proactive management and embedding in all ER case management processes.
  • Assess and identify HR/ER cases to engage internal employment law team for legal advice and manage that advice. 
  • Enable and drive comprehensive reporting, analysis and insights on employee relations.
  • Monitor external trends and the legislative and regulatory environment to ensure a contemporary approach to employee relations and ongoing compliance. 
  • Represent organisation in employment tribunals including conciliation at Fair Work Commission and Australian Human Rights Commission as required from time to time, including supporting direct reports to run simple matters. 

Profile

To be successful in this application, you will have:

  • At least 7 years experience in a senior ER practitioner capacity, ideally in a commercial organisation of significant complexity or across several jurisdictions.
  • Experience leading a high performing team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in ER, Employment Law or HR.
  • Experience in an ASX top 20
  • Practical experience conducting workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, grievances and terminations. 
  • Experience in Advocacy in employment tribunals.
