About
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join their legal team in Sydney or Melbourne. The role will involve advising all businesses in the Group on litigation, regulatory, regulatory enforcement and competition matters.  


Key Responsibilities:



  • Managing litigation and disputes, administrative proceedings or enforcement, and remediation
  • Supporting the Regulatory and Public Affairs team in relation to regulatory matters,planning matters before the courts
  • Supporting the Regulatory and Corporate Affairs team with regulatory advocacy, compliance, Providinglegal advice regarding obligations to and engagement with law enforcement authorities
  • Providing general legal advice and support to business units, including in relation to compliance, privacy, competition, telecommunication and consumer law issues
  • Providing advice on the privacy act
  • Briefing and managing external lawyers as required
  • Providing support to the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel on general legal matters as required
 
 
Key Requirements:
 
  • Ideally 7+ years PQE gained from a leading In-House organisation or tier one firm
  • Previous litigation and disputes experience is essential
  • Proven experience running complex legal matters with a regulatory or litigation focus
  • Previous regulatory experience is also desirable
  • Proven ability to provide commercially focused legal advice
  • Self-motivated with ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
