•      Medium sized steel fabrication business recently acquired by a larger business

•      Procurement & Estimating Manager role reporting to the General Manger

•      Metals, building materials, construction, home builder or industrial manufacturing background

Client Details

The business is a medium sized fabrication business in Brisbane’s South. Creating and delivering steel products for home builders; the business has recently received investment and has promoted its incumbent to a national role. As a result the business needs a dynamic Procurement & Estimating Manager on site to lead the functions.


Reporting to the General Manager you will lead both the Procurement & Estimating Functions with a focus on building strong & sustainable relationships with clients and stakeholders. You will be directly responsible for the team of 5 consisting of Estimators, Senior Estimators and a Procurement Officer You will:

Manage the Procurement function ensuring optimum stock control levels are cost effectively maintained whilst staying ahead of scheduled delivery dates negotiated with clients.

• Build strong strategic relationships with suppliers & customers to influence the cost effectiveness and sustainability of procurement operations
• Manage the reporting of all procurement operations (stock focus) into the Executive Leadership Team, constantly reviewing systems and procedures to promote innovation, maximise efficiencies and deliver out standing customer service
• Build a positive continuous improvement culture through proactive leadership; setting clear goals & targets, empowering performance and facilitating a learning environment
• Manage in its entirety the Estimating Team with focus on team culture whilst delivering a reputable and accurate estimating service to customers
• Review Estimating systems and procedures to promote innovation & the delivery of outstanding customer service while maximising cost efficiencies across operations.
• Manage the reporting of all estimating forecast, operations & win ratios into the Executive Leadership Team, assisting with estimating activities for selective major and complex projects


You are a proven Procurement/ Estimating Manager with estimating and pricing experience gained from within a steels, materials, construction or building products environment. You will have led a team before and hold expertise regards dealing with sub contractors and customer pricing, purchasing and inventory. Ideally you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
