Position Summary:
As an Employee Relations Consultant, you will manage a wide range of complex employee relations issues from start to finish. You will work closely with senior leaders, providing expert guidance and advice while acting as a point of escalation for the Senior Advisory team. Your expertise in managing high-stakes cases and workplace disputes will be key in helping drive a culture of fairness and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex employee relations matters, including ER litigation (Unfair Dismissals, General Protections claims, Stop Bullying and Stop Sexual Harassment orders), up to conciliation or conference.
- Handle workplace grievances and conduct investigations involving issues such as bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, racism, vilification, and victimisation.
- Oversee disciplinary processes for behavioural and conduct concerns, ranging from informal discussions to formal actions including termination of employment.
- Provide expert coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management and employee conduct issues.
- Manage cases involving employees on long-term sick leave, ensuring compliance and sensitivity to legal requirements.
- Serve as a point of escalation for Advisors and Senior Advisors, providing ongoing coaching and support.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director on ad-hoc projects such as:
- Conducting training for leaders and employees.
- Reviewing and refining ER policies and documentation.
- Continuous review of case management processes and related procedures.
- HR and P&C Business Partnering teams
- ER Policy and Payroll teams
- People Leaders
- WHS team
- Fraud Risk Management team
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Law, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing Employee Relations advice within a large, fast-paced organisation.
- Experience managing ER litigation, including participating in conciliations with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) or other relevant employment tribunals.
- Proven experience conducting workplace investigations, handling grievances, managing disciplinary issues, and navigating terminations.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with diverse levels of experience in handling ER matters.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to advise and influence at all levels of an organisation.
