Our client has created a new role to build and enhance their proactive compliance program, governance frameworks and reporting readiness. This will be in addition to the existing resources and program that is currently performing remediation.

Description 

The role is accountable for the development, implementation and maintenance of proactive compliance programs across employing entities to ensure adherence to relevant employment laws and regulations, ie. Fair Work Act.

The role will also be responsible for embedding continuous improvement and learning by identifying areas for skill and knowledge development, including delivering targeted training or education on interpretation and application in the area of employment, including the Fair Work Act, industrial instruments, and policies.

Key requirements:
  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations (ie. Fair Work Act and other relevant federal/state based legislation with employment entitlements).
  • Lead a team of ER specialists to drive compliance.
  • Ensure regular audits and assessments are completed to identify gaps and risks.
  • Provide regular reporting through governance structures, including the identification of trends, emerging risks and continuous improvement.
  • Provide interpretation and guidance on appropriate course of action having regard to legal obligations, policies, guidelines and industrial instruments.
  • Assist with other IR/ER activities across the organisation.


Profile

  • 7 or more years experience as an ER/IR practitioner, ideally in a commercial organisation of significant complexity and/or across multiple jurisdictions
    Experience in leading and/or establishing a new team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, ER, legal or related field
  • Experience in an ASX top 20 or internationally recognised company. 
  • Practical experience in interpretation and application of employment laws, industrial instruments and policies.
  • Experience in advocacy in employment tribunals (eg. FWC).
  • Ability to assess risks and make fair decisions that meet the needs of the business.
  • Ability to influence management decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to quickly develop a rapport and strong working relationships across all levels.
  • Good commercial understanding and a genuine interest about the business.
