Job description

  • Village Director – Campus Living Villages
  • Location: Casuarina Campus, Charles Darwin University, Darwin NT
  • Direct Reports: 6 (Facilities Manager, Community Manager, Administrator, CSA team, Duty Managers)
  • Ideal for Hotel Management seeking change and purpose.
Lead. Build. Transform. Be the driving force behind a thriving student village in Australia’s Top End.

Our client, Campus Living Villages (CLV) has secured an exciting long-term partnership with Charles Darwin University and they’re just getting started. As the Village Director, you’ll take full ownership of our student accommodation operations at the Casuarina Campus in Darwin, providing a home away from home for 350–400 international students and visiting academic staff.

This is a rare opportunity to create something from the ground up. With CLV still embedding its processes and brand, you’ll shape operations, build a strong team culture, and leave your mark on a community that’s growing fast. It’s more than just accommodation, it’s about experience, inclusion, safety, and belonging.

With systems still being embedded, you’ll help shape CLV’s footprint on campus, drive operational excellence, and build a community that truly serves its residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of the Village, including compliance, customer service, facilities, finance, occupancy, and safety.
  • Act as CLV’s senior representative on campus, owning the partnership with Charles Darwin University and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
  • Manage and develop a cross-functional team of 6+ staff across maintenance, customer service, administration, and community life.
  • Build a high-performing resident experience with 24/7 support systems, strong community engagement, and a focus on international student wellbeing.
  • Drive occupancy through local engagement and university-aligned marketing efforts.
  • Manage budgets, operational forecasts, and performance against key financial and customer KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, tenancy, safety, and university agreements.

The successful candidate:
  • An experienced, people-first operational leader, someone who’s just as comfortable managing facilities and compliance as you are listening to students or resolving a guest concern
  • You thrive in dynamic, evolving environments and are excited by the opportunity to help shape a business, not just run one.
    You also bring:
✔ Experience in hotel, student accommodation, or similar hospitality/residential environments
✔ A strong customer service ethos, especially with international or high-needs resident groups
✔ Proven team leadership and coaching skills, with a track record of building strong, engaged teams
✔ Financial and operational acumen, including budget and reporting accountability
✔ The ability to lead through ambiguity, ask the right questions, and bring structure to change
✔ A tertiary qualification in Business, Hospitality, or related fields is preferred

Benefits:
✨ Autonomy and ownership to lead an end-to-end operation
🚀 Career progression — help launch the next NT village and grow with us
💬 Supportive leadership and executive visibility (you’ll work closely with the COO and national team)
🌏 Impact — create a safe, inclusive environment for students from across the globe
💼 Eligibility for STI after 12mths

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the student experience while building your career with a values-led organisation.
