Client:
Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing business with 280 staff across 110 restaurants in NSW and a production site. They are committed to providing exceptional service and maintaining a positive workplace culture. Core to this is the appointment of a hands-on and proactive HR Manager to lead the HR team and manage key HR functions, including payroll.

The HR Manager will play a key role in supporting the business by providing strategic and operational HR leadership across multiple sites. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you will manage a team of 2.5 HR staff. You will focus on recruitment, industrial and employee relations, workers' compensation (including return-to-work processes), and payroll, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and fostering a positive workplace culture.

You will also oversee the roll-out and management of their new ELMO learning platform and other HR initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
  • Lead and manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and on-boarding for restaurant and production roles.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and implement strategies to attract top talent.
  • Ensure smooth on-boarding for new employees, providing an exceptional induction experience.
Industrial Relations (IR) & Employee Relations (ER):
  • Advise and support management on IR/ER issues, ensuring compliance with employment law and industrial agreements.
  • Handle employee grievances, disputes, and performance management issues.
  • Act as a key contact for all IR/ER matters, liaising with external legal advisors as needed.
Workers’ Compensation & Return-to-Work:
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims and liaise with insurers and medical professionals to ensure effective return-to-work programs.
  • Manage injury management processes and provide support to employees during their recovery and transition back to work.
Payroll Management:
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees across multiple locations, including restaurants and the production site.
  • Maintain compliance with award rates, employee entitlements, and relevant legislation.
  • Lead the coordination and resolution of payroll queries.
Learning and Development:
  • Oversee the roll-out of the ELMO learning platform across the business to ensure staff are engaged in continuous development opportunities.
  • Work with department leaders to identify training needs and ensure learning programs align with business objectives.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead a small HR team, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, helping team members to thrive.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in HR management, ideally within a fast-paced, transactional environment.
  • Strong background in recruitment, IR/ER, workers' compensation, and payroll.
  • Knowledge of Australian employment laws, awards, and regulations.
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., ELMO) and familiarity with training/learning platforms.
  • Ability to lead a small team and be hands-on in operational HR tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality and professionalism.
