Client Description:
This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable government department currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop professional, timely and accurate plans, strategies, policies and systems for science within the branch/cluster, while working closely with senior management, key scientists and others to meet science programs and scientific objectives.
- Provide a professional, timely and accurate central point of contact, delivering a “knowledge brokering” function, to define knowledge needs, acquire scientific information, and package it in a form which can be used or accessed immediately by the partner/client.
- Implement and quality control the science and technology component of environmental scanning functions, to contribute to branch/division/cluster corporate and strategic planning and initiatives.
- Explore and identify potential new scientific alliances, collaboration, networks and funding for enhancing scientific capacity and effectiveness.
- Develop, monitor and/or maintain relevant science management systems and policies.
- Provide advice, coordination of responses, referral of matters to others for action, and liaison with others inside or outside of the cluster.
- Represent the division or cluster on relevant scientific committees/working groups.
- Provide and/or support the identification of emerging issues and directions for environment and conservation science including scanning and identification of future issues for the division, cluster and the Government
Essential skills:
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in project management relevant to a scientific/research organisation.
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of professional scientific services and/or research in ecology and/or biodiversity conservation.
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in communication of science to a general audience through a variety of media.
