A leading Australian organisation, is seeking an experienced lawyer to join their In-House legal team on an 2 year fixed-term contract. As part of this role, you would be responsible for the provision of high-quality legal advice relating to a variety of employment, workplace relations, and anti-discrimination matters. As the lead legal role for the employment law compliance program, this role would also require you to work closely with other teams within the organisation.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice, in alignment with the relevant law and organisations policies and procedures
  • Advising the leadership team on changes in the employment law space, including changes in workplace legislation
  • Providing safety legal services to other relevant business units
  • Advising on wage-related matters, including wages compliance and the implementation of new payroll systems
  • Conducting training in relation to employment law matters
Key Requirements:
  • Ideally a minimum of 10 years PQE gained from a large corporate or reputable law firm
  • Demonstrated background in employment law
  • Superior drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and relationships building skills
  • The ability to work with autonomy and collaboratively
  • Proven ability to manage competing deadlines and provide a client-centric approach
