Senior Legal Counsel - Corporate

Our client a leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel. This will be reporting into the General Counsel and working within their collegiate and focused legal team in Sydney. You will be responsible for contributing to the strategy and success of business operations through the provision of expert legal advice to key stakeholders and project teams.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Developing a thorough understanding of the business partner relationships to grasp their key drivers and strategic priorities.
• Providing transactional support for major corporate initiatives undertaken by the business including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and capital markets transactions
• Advising the business and senior executives on a range of legal and regulatory issues and proactively managing legal risk
• Supporting the business with legal services including contract review, document preparation and transaction management
• Liaising closely and building relationships with external stakeholders,law firms and related service providers, joint venture partners and regulators

 
Key Requirements:

• Ideally a minimum of 6 years PQE gained in-house or from a respected private practice firm.
• Previous experience in corporate law, capital markets, M&A, joint ventures, governance, and commercial contracts.
• An understanding of general insurance or the broader financial services industry will be viewed favourably
• Resilient with a calm demeanour & a solutions-focused approach.
• Strong interpersonally with an ability to build effective relationships with both internal & external stakeholders
