FutureYou has partnered up with a global business to find their next Payroll Officer.
This Payroll Officer will play a vital role in the seamless administration of payroll processes across various business units within the Australian and New Zealand operations. This position is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on schedule, adhering to applicable legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements. Working collaboratively with HR and Finance functions, this role ensures payroll data integrity and provides exceptional service to a diverse employee base.

This Payroll Officer will play a vital role in the seamless administration of payroll processes across various business units within the Australian and New Zealand operations. This position is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on schedule, adhering to applicable legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements. Working collaboratively with HR and Finance functions, this role ensures payroll data integrity and provides exceptional service to a diverse employee base.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing on a fortnightly schedule, utilising payroll software such as Chris21 or similar platforms.
- Maintain up-to-date employee information including contracts, timesheets, and leave records to support accurate payroll calculations.
- Analyse and interpret industrial awards and enterprise agreements to apply appropriate wages, benefits, deductions, and allowances.
- Conduct thorough payroll reconciliations and assist with month-end financial reporting activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including tax withholding (PAYG), superannuation obligations, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.
- Address payroll inquiries from employees promptly and professionally, resolving issues efficiently.
- Support audit processes, payroll quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of payroll experience in a multi-entity environment, preferably with systems like Chris21/iChris
- Legal eligibility to work in Australia or New Zealand.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance frameworks.
- Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data management.
- Proficient in payroll software and skilled in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities within deadlines.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented approach.
- Dependable, thorough, adaptable, and able to work independently or collaboratively under pressure.
