Assistant Accountant | Sydney CBD | Part-Time (3 Days)

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join a supportive finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract covering parental leave.
The role is primarily focused on transactional finance activities, particularly Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, with some exposure to journal entries relating to cost reallocations. This position is not month-end heavy and is well suited to someone early in their accounting career or with a strong transactional background.
You will work closely with the finance team, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring accuracy across financial processing.

Duties
  • Processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions
  • High-volume data entry and transactional finance support
  • Preparing journal entries to reallocate costs from the balance sheet to the P&L
  • Assisting with general ledger maintenance
  • Supporting the finance team with ad-hoc accounting tasks
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial records
Skills & experience
You will be a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys hands-on transactional work within a team environment.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable essential
  • Background in an Assistant Accountant or Finance Officer role
  • Exposure to journal entries beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Comfortable working in an on-site environment
  • Available to work 3 days per week (must include Monday & Friday)
Additional Information
  • 6-month fixed-term contract (parental leave cover)
  • Start date flexible – earlier is preferred
  • Part-time: 3 days per week
  • On-site role (no WFH)
