Government sector – Nowra – Hybrid /WFH Option available
FULL TIME - Contract position 

 
Client Description:
 

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable government department currently seeking an experienced Manager Investigations.
 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and support complex, sensitive and otherwise challenging investigations and disciplinary complaints, in order to optimise outcomes
  • Lead and manage investigations into pecuniary interest and misconduct matters, maladministration and other issues that may require early intervention in respect to local government and the conduct of council officials.
  • Provide timely, informed guidance, advice and support on investigation matters to senior management, staff and other key stakeholders
  •  Plan for and monitor performance of all investigative strategies and operations, evaluate their effectiveness (in respect of both outcomes and efficiencies) and identify, recommend and pursue improvement opportunities
  • Research and assess, develop, implement, maintain and continually improve systems, procedures, business instructions and protocols to optimise outcomes and facilitate stakeholder confidence
  • Continually enhance investigative capabilities through the formulation and delivery of effective professional development initiatives and related resources
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders, including co-regulators and legal service providers, in order to optimise outcomes.
 

Key Challenges of the role

  • Coordinate multiple complex investigations, often highly confidential, to ensure effective delivery in a high-pressure work environment, with competing priorities and deadlines which are often time-sensitive
  • Facilitate the engagement of relevant government agencies, local government councils and other stakeholders to address sensitive issues and collaborate on initiatives to maintain the integrity of the local government sector in NSW
  • Assimilate information quickly and translate complex, technical information into easy to understand, plain English written and verbal communication.
