Lifeline Australia's (separately incorporated) 17 Member organisations own and operate 43 Lifeline centres across all states and territories in Australia, offering access to all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support. Lifeline is located in the Sydney CBD (close to Circular Quay).

The organisation is in a growth phase with increasing focus on Risk and Assurance, and is seeking a high-calibre and pro-active Internal Auditor to join the Governance, Legal and Risk function.

Role Description
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced auditor looking for part-time work (3 days per week) in a supportive environment where they can make a meaningful contribution.
You will work under the leadership, guidance and support of the Risk & Assurance Manager who reports into the Executive Director of Governance, Legal and Risk. 

You will be responsible for executing a structured, risk-based approach to systematically and effectively reviewing the organisation’s operations and compliance practices.  The role will work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders to provide support and determine whether embedded controls and processes have currency, are fit for purpose, and are operating effectively.

Responsibilities Include
Under the leadership of the Risk & Assurance manager, complete all steps in the audit process including but not limited to:
  • Design – define scope, workplan development defining objectives and test steps
  • Planning - engagement with the relevant auditee to confirm resourcing, scheduling and evidence requests
  • Execution – review evidence, conduct interviews, document findings and follow-ups
  • Reporting – draft reports with defined problem statement, criteria, findings, emerging themes, cause and impact (assess risk), and define recommendations
  • Approval – submit draft report for review cycle and dissemination to the auditee
Candidate Profile
To be successful in this role you will possess the following attributes:
  • Degree qualified in accounting, economics, commerce or other suitably relevant degree
  • Minimum 3 years internal and/or external audit experience with an understanding of audit methodologies and tools. Candidates with more experience will be highly regarded
  • Self-starter, positive attitude with ability to work autonomously
  • Effective audit execution, analysis and concise report writing skills 
  • Curiosity to question inefficient business processes and challenge root causes of audit findings.
  • Strong self-leadership, prioritisation and time-management skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate productively with different stakeholder groups while maintaining objectivity, independence and confidentiality
  • Ability to travel nationally (to interstate CBD and regional centre locations. Indicative  travel is a maximum of 4x per year with each trip being less than a week.  
Job Offer
The salary on offer for this permanent part-time role is $120,000 pro-rated for 3 days per week (approximately $72,000).
