Senior Associate - IP Disputes (Social Media)

Job description

  • Senior Associate on high‑profile litigation related to social media, content, media, advertising, consumer law and intellectual property infringement
  • Top Australian law firm, working at the forefront of digital and regulatory law
  • Combine litigation with policy influence, contributing to law reform in this area
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end‑to‑end social media, content, media, and consumer litigation, including strategy, evidence, briefing, and instructing counsel.
  • Advise on and respond to subpoenas, access requests, and evidence production obligations.
  • Handle complex litigation matters, including consumer claims and regulated advertising disputes.
  • Lead defamation matters, content disputes, and takedown requests.
  • Provide advice on privacy, media, and consumer law issues impacting digital platforms and content.
  • Contribute to policy development and law reform initiatives and submissions.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop junior lawyers
Key Requirements
  • 6–8 years PQE with strong, hands‑on litigation experience; Australian admitted.
  • Demonstrated expertise in media, content, technology and/or consumer law 
  • Any experience acting for social media companies such as Meta, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc, or broader multi-national technology organisations is advantageous
  • Strong interest in policy, regulatory, and law reform work. Experience in government also useful.
