The Role - Reporting to the CFO, you’ll work as the standalone Payroll Officer within a small finance team. This is a mixed, hands-on rand end-to-end payroll role where you’ll own the function, drive process improvements, and act as the first point of contact for all payroll queries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process end-to-end payroll for ~100 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment
  • Manage payroll tax, superannuation, and leave reconciliations in line with compliance requirements
  • Operate and optimise the in-house payroll system 
  • Serve as the primary help desk for employee and manager payroll enquiries
  • Collaborate with the payroll system provider to implement updates and workflow improvements
  • Support managers and staff with payroll education and guidance for a smooth user experience
  • Contribute to broader finance, compliance and audit activities as needed
What You’ll Bring
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Payroll Officer or similar standalone role
  • Strong proficiency with payroll systems (Employment Hero experience preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Australian payroll processing, tax, super and compliance
  • High attention to detail with excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative, team-first mindset
  • Finance background (e.g., assistant accountant) is advantageous
