About the Opportunity
We are partnered with a very successful family office launching a new fire safety and building consultancy business in Australia, leveraging a highly successful international business. This is a rare founding opportunity where you will become the first Australian hire and play a pivotal role in establishing, building and scaling the business locally. With significant autonomy and influence, you will help shape the organisation's strategy, capability and long-term success. This role is ideal for a technically accomplished leader who has progressed through the industry, led teams, and is ready to take ownership of building something meaningful from the ground up.
 
The Role
As Operations Director, you will establish and lead the Australian operation, taking responsibility for:
 
Business Establishment & Compliance
  • Establish systems and quality frameworks
  • Secure industry accreditations and registrations
  • Build statutory signing capability and serve as the technical authority as the business grows
Technical & Operational Leadership
  • Manage a network of specialist contractors and consultants
  • Act as the senior technical lead for major client portfolios
  • Oversee delivery quality across fire safety, building compliance, structural surveillance, project management and health & safety services
  • Adapt proven international delivery models, systems and operating procedures for the Australian market
Team Growth & Capability Building
  • Recruit, assess and develop technical talent
  • Build contractor and subcontractor networks
  • Develop a multidisciplinary team and service offering across fire safety and building compliance
About You
Essential
  • FPAS Accredited Practitioner (Fire Safety) – Fire Safety Assessment
  • Experience signing or informing Annual Fire Safety Statements in NSW
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in building surveying, fire safety engineering, construction management or a related discipline
Highly Regarded
  • Registered Building Surveyor / Registered Certifier credentials
  • Alternatively, strong fire safety or essential services expertise with a clear pathway toward registration
Experience
  • 5 + years' experience within Australian building compliance, fire safety, building surveying or related consultancy environments
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with operational, commercial or delivery accountability
  • Strong industry network and understanding of the building compliance and fire safety landscape
  • Experience building, scaling or significantly growing teams, functions or businesses
