About the Opportunity
A leading Australian infrastructure developer and asset manager is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their Corporate Legal Function on a permanent part-time basis.
With billions of dollars delivered in infrastructure projects across Australia, this organisation offers end-to-end capabilities spanning project development, financial structuring, capital raising, delivery, and asset management. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of law and major nation-building projects.
 
The Role
You'll provide commercial legal support across the business, with a focus on contracts, transactions, and commercial advisory work. Your responsibilities will include:
Contracts & Commercial
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of agreements including NDAs, consultant engagements, mandate letters, consortium agreements, supplier contracts, and lease documents
  • Managing contract lifecycle and providing ongoing advice
Transaction & Bid Support
  • Reviewing tender documentation and providing strategic advice
  • Managing external legal adviser appointment processes
  • Supporting transaction document negotiation and settlement
  • Reviewing legal due diligence reports
  • Contributing to Expression of Interest and tender submissions
Knowledge Management
  • Developing and maintaining legal templates and precedents
  • Delivering training on legal topics
  • Monitoring relevant legislative changes and updating the business
General Legal Support
  • Policy and procedure reviews
  • Corporate compliance support
  • Supporting strategic business initiatives as needed
What You'll Bring
  • 4-8 years PQE from a respected law firm
  • Experience in corporate and commercial law, with exposure to infrastructure, PPP, or energy sector projects (front-end origination and delivery experience highly valued)
  • Ability to work autonomously with pragmatic judgment
  • Adaptable approach with willingness to evolve your practice to meet business needs
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • In-house or secondment experience is desirable but not essential
