Director of Services

  • Director of Services – NextSense
  • Work closely with key Allied Health partners ensuring quality of service delivery and compliance within a regulatory framework, ensuring consistent standards of practice across all services and locations.
  • Provide strategic direction and advice to executive leadership team on service delivery strategy positioning NextSense as the industry benchmark for best practice
  • Support the seamless integration of services to NextSense’ new state-of-the-art facility at Macquarie University Campus 2023.

NextSense, formerly Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC), is a not-for-profit organisation supporting people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision across Australia. A registered NDIS provider, NextSense works with children, adults, and their families to educate and create an individual program of care that meets unique needs.
NextSense has undergone significant transformation recently through re-branding and the acquisition of smaller organisations, positioning themselves as a national leader and best in class within their respective field.

A critical and valued member of the Executive Leadership Team the Director of Services is responsible for developing, leading, and evaluating the service delivery strategy of all NextSense multidisciplinary health services. With a demonstrable track record, in the Allied Health Space, executing large scale change and with a futuristic mindset, the Director of Services will:
  • Collaborate with colleagues internally and across the sector to execute against the Board and SLT strategic priorities and 5-year strategic plan specific to our service delivery model
  • Advance the vision into a deliverable strategy to grow our services into Adult Cochlear Implants and critically review new opportunities driven by populations in need
  • Review and oversee the modification of our current operating model to align with best practice service delivery and NextSense strategy by ensuring an optimal structure is in place
  • Build strong strategic partnerships to support the optimisation of our service provision and reputation as the provider of choice
  • Design and implement strategies for revenue generation to support exemplary services in the field aligned with NextSense strategic direction and core services.
  • Design and implement evidence metrics to demonstrate and reinforce our position as a leader in disability services.
  • Optimise productivity, streamline, and standardise client experience and efficiency across all services to maximise service delivery outcomes and quality.
  • Effectively and efficiently mobilise and deploy resources to address changes in community need and growth
  • Ensure all services are operating at levels that exceed all applicable external industry standards (government; national and state) and industry standards and guidelines for service delivery whilst developing our own standards internally.
  • In partnership with People and Culture, ensure the provision of a child safe environment in alignment with child safe organisation standards and accreditation.
  • Lead the development of planning and reporting frameworks that ensure governing funding and corporate governance requirements are met and exceeded.

  • Supporting change management business activities to a variety of stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively to implement organisational strategy across functions, as respected Executive team member.
Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years’ experience relevant to the role.
  • Extensive experience and success in managing a large-scale, diverse, service delivery operations in private or public systems preferably with multidisciplinary clinical experience
  • Track record as a highly regarded and influential professional in the disability, health services or related sector.
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit organisations in the disability sector with strong commercial and financial acumen; including:
    • Experience in the compilation of budgets and financial forecasts and presenting these to executive management
    • Experience working with and presenting to a highly engaged Board of Directors and associated sub committees
    • Experience designing new revenue streams and programs
  • Extensive leadership, management, and influence experience
  • Ability to translate complex information into meaningful content for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
