Head of IT

Position Title: Head of IT 
Role Type: Permanent Full-Time

Location: North Ryde, NSW

Position Summary

The Head of IT is accountable for delivering IT projects and IT services to the business. Key areas of responsibility include, IT projects, Dev Ops and overall IT relationship management across the board. The role integrates the services across IT and our vendors to create an end to end IT function for our client

Key relationships to develop and manage include: Chief Operating Officer, The Senior Leadership Team, The IT Senior Leadership team and key vendors.

As the Head of IT, you will be responsible to ensure that expansion plans are delivered and any acquired business is integrated in an effective and efficient way, leveraging the capabilities across IT and with vendors

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Planning a roadmap of IT projects and improvements to service to enable the Vet strategy incorporating growth plans

Ensure the solutions and technology are fit for purpose and meet the needs

Deliver the IT Road Map 

Represent IT in due diligence for any new business and develop the IT integration plan

Improved IT service working with the Service Delivery team to have on the ground service management and 24x7 support

Determine optimal team structure and matrix resources for the overall IT team

Key Relationships

Internal: Executive Leadership Team; Senior Leadership Teams; IT Team;

External: IT Suppliers and delivery partners


Qualifications and Experience Required

  • 5 years experience in leading Projects, Application Delivery or Service Delivery
  • Familiar with ITIL, SDLC, Agile delivery and project methodologies
  • Supplier management with integrated service delivery
  • Worked in one or more of the following industries: Retail, FMCG, Health Services
  • Tertiary qualified with relevant degree and / or masters
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products


  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills with ability to develop positive professional relationships with senior management
  • Maintains positive approach and attention to detail to consistently deliver high quality output
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
  • Excellent time, administrative and workflow management skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Experienced in Problem identification and resolution skills
  • Strong organisational, presentation, and customer service skills
  • Skill in planning with an ability to think ahead and plan over a 6-12 month time span
  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
