An opportunity has arisen for a 4-7 year PAE regulatory Lawyer/Legal Counsel to join the in-house division of an esteemed professional services organisation. Working closely with the General Counsel & Senior Legal Counsel of Regulatory & Operations, you will support the GCO’s regulatory & data privacy portfolio on a wide range of issues including:
  • Advising on privacy and GDPR; as well as managing and resolving data breach incidents in conjunction with both Australian and EU regimes.
  • Providing regulatory advice to the business on Anti-Money laundering, sanctions, anti-corruption & bribery.
  • Management of investigations by a wide variety of regulators within Australia & overseas.
  • Management of Freedom of Information requests as well as preparation of responses.
  • Liaising with internal team members, data owners, and stakeholders, to ensure timeframes are complied with & to resolve any questions that arise.
  • Negotiation & drafting of a range of commercial contracts ranging from confidentiality & consultancy to global framework agreements.
  • Providing strategic advice to the business and liaising closely with the wider global team.
Key Requirements:

You will possess:
  • minimum of 4-7 years’ PAE in the regulatory space either from another in-house organisation or coming out of a leading top-tier or mid-tier firm.
  • Proven expertise in privacy and a general understanding of the GDPR is essential.
  • Prior regulatory expertise either in the professional services or financial services sector is preferable.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to think on your feet.
  • Strong interpersonally with an ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders across the business.
  • Autonomous with a confident manner & the ability to effectively negotiate.
