Job Spec for Customer Solutions Engineer

Location: Sydney, NSW


You’ll be working together with our founding team, as our first international developer. We already have a growing number of customers in Australia and New Zealand, with several enterprise pilots underway.

You’ll be working with prospective customers, understanding their needs, and mapping our solution to their problems. You’ll be the centre of a new team based in Australia. A team built around you to provide love to the Asia Pacific market.

The successful candidate will be resourceful, inquisitive, a fast learner, with an ability to easily connect with a customer. You’ll be able to pick up new concepts quickly and empathize with customer pain points.

In this role, you’ll;

  • Be the lead developer in ANZ, committing code to our core codebase and integrating with customer solutions
  • Working closely with the sales team acting as the technical authority/expert
  • Attend client meetings with Sales/Services team - working closely with our clients to capture their requirements
  • Proactively scope the technical solution required to address customer requirements, and recommends solutions that drive value for our customers and Blink
  • Qualify technically that Blink can address the client’s needs
  • Challenge our clients and potential clients on the status quo
  • Carry out research to stay ahead of their area of expertise - including understanding the current and future market, product and competitor landscape
  • Liaise with Product Managers to provide feedback from clients about product requirements/ideas to help them innovate and stay ahead of where the market is going.
  • Provide coaching/development to sales, services and customer success teams to enhance their product knowledge and technical acumen

Pre-sales - RFPs/GDPR/Security/Pre-Sales meetings
  1. Technical qualification of customers’ estate including but not limited to:
    1. Existing applications: what, how, when, where, why
    2. In house development capability/languages
  2. Presentation skills
    1. Adhoc whiteboard diagrams of architecture
    2. Competency simplifying architecture via ppt/keynote
    3. Communicate technical information in a non-technical way
  3. Sales Muscle
    1. Building relationships with technical stakeholders
    2. Calling, emailing, following up, chasing - moving the needle!
  4. The written word
    1. Willingness, ability & patience to address RFP & Security Questionnaires
    2. Professional tone in email/formal documentation & respect for grammar.
Post-sales - Solutions/Support/Up-Sells/PS
  1. Technical workshops
    1. Building agendas, sending invites, solo hosting
    2. Summarizing, following up, building your network
  2. Identifying business opportunities
    1. Matching understanding of customer with Blink’s capability
    2. Pushing boundaries of customer thinking


  1. Work with sales team & client to identify and champion opportunities for projects to improve the employee experience and solve business needs
  2. Lead requirement gathering workshops for new integration projects
  3. Create and validate integration architecture proposals with the client and Blink technical team
  4. Create performant, well written and tested node.js integrations with third-party systems
  5. Work with the design team to create beautiful, pleasing and well tested Micro-Apps to provide custom experiences that are either standalone or working in conjunction with a connector to a third-party system

Tertiary education or experience in front end development

Demonstrated web development skills (JavaScript, API, HTML, CSS, SASS)

Strong knowledge of UX/UI best practice

High proficiency in JavaScript frameworks

Basic knowledge of backend languages (PHP)

Strong Communication skills
