Litigation Associate - shipping & maritime focus

Global insurance and reinsurance firm is seeking a highly motivated 2-4 year general insurance Associate or commercial litigator with some exposure to marine & shipping litigation to join a developing and growing team, working primarily with two specialists in the industry.
 
Acting for a mix of insurers, both across Australia and overseas, you will have the opportunity to become involved in a broad mix of high-level shipping, maritime, international trade & aviation litigation work acting on behalf of airlines, insurers, aerospace and defence companies to trade/regulatory authorities, as well as high net worth individuals.
 
  • Drafting coverage advice & advising on risk – some of which will be multi-jurisdictional.
  • Advising on a range of shipping/maritime, international trade & aviation claims
  • Acting on multi-party cross border disputes across the APAC region.
The candidate will possess the following skills:
  • A minimum of 2-4 years PAE in general insurance or commercial litigation gained within a top-tier, national or well-regarded defendant insurance law firm with a keen interest in this space;
  • Demonstrated expertise in shipping/marine or aviation litigation would be highly regarded.
  • Solid academic record with a commercial approach.
  • Keen interest in business development, marketing & client events.
  • Excellent interpersonal, drafting and technical skills;
  • Ability to manage and run your own caseload of files relatively autonomously;
