Defence Systems Engineer
Future You are currently looking to speak with experienced Systems Engineers to work with a Victorian based defence company focused on the design and manufacture of reconfigurable, high-fidelity motion simulators for driver, pilot and sailor training.

This is a unique role that will see you working on an exciting new project with some of Defence Industry's best engineers delivering a cutting-edge capability.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys the challenge of new technology, can create structure from ambiguity, lead by example and creates a collaborative environment.

Principal Responsibilities and Key Duties

  • Derive system requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and system requirements reviews
  • Undertake functional analysis to identify the solution against a set of requirements and develop system, subsystem and component level specifications
  • Perform the integration and validation of complex systems and undertake the full qualification of complex system products, where stringent OQE requirements exist
  • Ensure ILS requirements and associated analysis (RAMS, supportability, PHS&T) is completed to a high standard and informs design decisions
  • Ensure all documents and artefacts generated by the team are completed and managed in accordance with appropriate standard procedures
  • Lead the development and use of system engineering tools such as DOORS, FMECA, traceability analysis and requirement definition
Training / Qualifications
  • Completion of a tertiary degree in electronics/ electrical/ communications/ mechanical engineering, ideally a Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Professional engineering training and experience in delivering complex systems with a ASDEFCON contract framework
  • Must have held a security clearance to BASELINE or above, with ability to reactivate
  • ITAR eligibility may be required for this position, as such your nationality and place of birth may be questioned
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Ideally 10+ years of engineering experience post graduation
  • At least 5 years experience delivering engineering solutions to Defence Demonstrated experience gained in an OEM or PSI
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering tasks relating to the entire system development lifecycle (including requirements development, system definition, design and development, integration, verification and validation activities)
  • Demonstrated experience working to a Technical Certification framework (i.e. TRAMM-L) and commercial standards (EN, AS, FCC, ISO etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a safety critical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with autonomy in a start-up environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
