The purpose of this role is to deliver the Bank’s API program of work and build a sustainable operational capability for the new strategic critical asset. The portfolio manger bank APIs is responsible for expanding and operationalising the Banks API capability.  The role will build on the significant API foundations focusing on operationalising the capability while also maintaining the accelerated delivery to support key strategic initiatives including Open Banking and New Payments Platform. Grow a team of passionate technologies focused on customer outcomes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Accountable for the efficient delivery of the Bank API portfolio in support of our clients Strategy
  • Build operational support capability including implementing best practices and processes to ensure the capability is maintained and continually improved
  • Operational excellence including reporting and measurement ensuring assets are maintained within Risk Appetite
  • Accountable for business engagement with all areas relating to Bank APIs
  • Contribute to the Banking and Wealth Technology strategy of digitizing the bank and enabling the marketplace
  • Collaborate across Technology and business team to ensure successful delivery of API portfolio commitments aligned to roadmap
  • Provide technical consultation and direction to teams and the business with a view to assist with business thinking and definition of technology solutions
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure the most appropriate, cost effective and timely solutions are delivered
  • Comply with operational reporting and steering committee governance requirements
  • Build a culture of professionalism and delivery accountability within a team of leaders, including the ability to motivate and improve levels of performance
  • Ensure people management disciplines and resourcing profiles are appropriate to changing needs of the environment and business direction
  • Manage business expectations on programs such that lifecycle, deliverables and key dates are understood
  • Project Pipeline Prioritisation and Portfolio Planning
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic vendors 
  • Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology and/or Business or equivalent industry experience
  • Previous experience of leading IT teams delivering API capability
  • Previous experience of banking technology
  • Previous experience of IT operations and application of ownership
  • Previous experience in leading a team in a distributed model
  • Excellent knowledge/experience in the application of Agile and Lean approaches
  • A proven ability to manage across broad teams and business areas, and ensure effective delivery of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Effective planning, co-ordinating and managing time frames to achieve deliverables 
  • Commercial awareness to develop sound business cases
  • Ability to manage, coach and develop leaders
  • A proven ability to effectively build relationships at senior; management and board level
  • Ability to facilitate and resolve gaps/conflicts between the client, business and technical areas
  • Persuasive and able negotiator
  • Excellent presentation skills to technical and business audiences
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Vendor management including the management of outsource service suppliers
  • Complex budget and financial management
  • High level of flexibility with the ability to adapt to change
